Queen for the Day

Another lovely day here is Falkirk - got the last of the holiday washing done and dried! Just waiting for husband to "volunteer" to put it all away, think I'll have a long wait!

Been busy around the house too - have spent the last few days tidying the boys' rooms. How did they manage to accumulate so much??? We have anough books to open our own library, games galore and of course a thousand other things that I can't possibly throw out (according to the boys!). We could give a toy shop a run for its money. Also took the opportunity to sort out the boys clothes - 5 bin bags to the clothes bank, I couldn't believe it (neither could husband as he had the pleasure of arriving home from work to be told they needed to be taken to the clothes bank, ha ha). Another big bag of preloved clothing is heading to my slighty younger nephew.

Despite all this hive of activity I managed to squeeze in some crafting (well I did have to have a break!) and today was the launch of the new fortnight challenge over at Pollycraft - the theme being Ruby Red. Well as I had some Lil Dumplings already printed out, it was a no-brainer to use the very girlie and cute "Queenie":

The papers are one of the lovely MME pads "Market" - I loved the crowns. Teamed it up with some mulberry flowers and gems. The sentiment was cut from one of the papers in the pad. Due to my dodgy photography skills you can't see the glamour dust I used on her wings or the glossy accents on her crown.

Well off for a lie down now - exhausted!!!!

Back from my Hols!

Yes - we have returned from a fortnight in North Wales. It was fantastic - the weather was glorious which makes such a difference, not that I have a tan, Factor 50 all the way for me!! There were no cries of "I'm bored" from the boys so that means it was a success. Now just working my way through loads of washing and trying to find space for the extra things we brought back.

Anyway, this little card is making it's way by the skin of it's teeth to this week's Pollycraft Challenge which closes later today. The theme was Stars and Stripes and after a dig about the paper stash this is what I came up with:

Have used "Brains" from Lil Dumplings - a total snip at £1.49! He also has lots of little friends which are too cute for words! The papers are Fancy Pants "Off to School" and I thought they went so well with Brains. The little sentiment is hanging from a piece of acetate and is cute from one of the FP papers and the little apple is a Quickutz die cut (haven't used them for ages, forgot what great shapes I had - not to self: must use them more!) Finished off with a few gems and jobs a good 'un!

Paula's also running this fab offer until 18 July:

Well better be off - the washing machine calls!!!

A little something for the holidays!

Long time no see! June has been a manic month for me - lots of things going on at school for the boys and I so the days have just whizzed by. We have a day and a half until our summer hols starts - hoorah!!!!

The other thing that's kept me busy is organising gifts for the boys' teachers - it's a minefield! You want to get something that says thank you for all you've done for my hooligans but not anything overboard but at the same time nothing stingy. Luckily as a secondary teacher I get bugger all from my students - I might get a "have a nice holiday" if I'm lucky ha ha.

I also like to give something to my hard working colleagues for putting up with me for another year and it does usually involve something alcoholic (although the bottle I've used in the pictures isn't!). Along came Pollycraft's Paula with her cute "Lil Dumplings" and I knew exactly what I was going to do - make bottle labels. These were perfect for that summer holiday feeling we have at the minute and just teamed it up with some fab summery American Craft papers and a few charms. Caution - picture heavy!

I would like to enter these into the brand new Pollycraft Challenges which has a first challenge of "Anything Goes". Although you do not have to use a Pollycraft image to enter the Pollycraft Challenges, if you do Paula has launched a fabulous "Craft for Credit" scheme where you get £0.30 credit every time you enter a challenge (one credit per challenge) with a Pollycraft image.

Gosh, I've tired myself out with this mammoth post!!

Thanks for visiting,

Tuesday 4 June 2013

Hello!

Well hopefully this has posted while I'm at school - we change timetable before our summer holiday at the start of July so tomorrow is a teacher training day getting ready for the change. The Scottish education system has been having quite an overhaul with the introduction of National 4 and National 5 qualifications under "Curriculum for Excellence" and it has required lots of new courses to be rewritten so it's all go at school!

Anyway here is a little card which I am entering into this week's The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge:

This is Pippa from the Candfloss Crew over at Pollycraft - the thing I love about using digis is that you can print them out any size you like which allowed me to chop a bit off Pippa for this sketch (sounds a bit painful doesn't it???!) The papers are American Crafts "Shoreline" and the stickers are from American Crafts as well. There is some stickles on there and the flowers and gems were in my stash.

Mr Fix It

Good afternoon - I'm enjoying a day off school today due to a local holiday (the boys are still at school though) so it's been very peaceful and quiet. It's also my youngest's 7th birthday today - where does the time go??

Now, my dad is of an age where if you needed any diy done you did it yourself so this card is very appropriate (although Mr Fix It's overall's are far too clean!). If you say to my dad that you've seen something in the shop his usual reply is "don't buy it, I could make it!".

So this fella is another image from the relaunched Pollycraft and is of course called Mr Fix It. The papers are Prima's "Craftsman" which I thought was appropriate. The little hammer and wrench charms, twine and binding were in my stash and the round sentiment is Craftwork Cards. The letter stickers are American Crafts "Remarks" which I am quite fond of at the minute.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Alphabet Challenge - "H for Happy" (the word Happy had to appear on your card)
Cards for Men - "Dad"
Moving along with the Times - a sketch (which I have rotated)

Well off to enjoy the few hours I have left to myself before the boys come home!

The Candyfloss Crew - Introducing Bailey

Well I couldn't help getting another little card on here! Like the buses, you don't see one for ages then 2 come along at the same time lol!

This card shows off another of the fab new digis over at Pollycraft - Bailey who is the newest member of the Candyfloss Crew. There is a great selection of brand new digis over at Pollycraft and it's well worth checking out. There's even a 25% off your order until 15 June - I made sure I stocked up!

I would like to enter this card into this week's Divas by Design Challenge who are tying themselves in knots this week with their theme "Tie a Ribbon".

The lovely soft pastel papers are American Craft's Dear Lizzy "Neapolitan" and this influenced my colouring of Bailey. The ribbon is also from American Crafts and the sentiment, as usual, is from Craftwork Cards. The gems and buttons were in my stash.

Thanks for visiting and remember to pop over to Pollycraft and Paula's blog for inspiration.

New Pollycraft Images

Good evening - it's been a while! Where does the time go? The evenings recently have gone by very quickly and I've never been one for staying up really late - sometimes I'm not far behind the boys!

Anyway, that clever Paula over at Pollycraft has been busy with her pencil and created some new digis and they are gorgeous! This little guy here is called Quentin and he is too kool for skool!!!! He is a member of Paula's Candyfloss Crew.

Have coloured Quentin in with promarkers and raised him up on some foam pads. The paper is DCWV "First Grade" and the little buttons are papermania. The Lettering are stickers from American Crafts and the twine/charm were lurking in my stash.

I would like to enter this card into the Creative Inspirations Challenge of Anything Goes (with an option of buttons).

As an added bonus Paula is offering 25% off her digis until 15 June - so get over there now and spend some pennies!

Cupcakes all in a Row

Good evening! I made some cupcakes this afternoon so I thought this card was appropriate (although mine didn't look as nice as these ha ha!). These cute cupcakes are a new digi from the newly re-opened Pollycraft. Paula have been busy drawing some gorgeous new images and this one is one of the digi stripz which I cut down to make this topper. I also 3d-d a couple of them. The papers I think are from a Papermania pad, but I can't be sure as the cover has gone AWOL!

We also had cupcakes to celebrate Hamish's 9th birthday today - can't believe it will be double figures next year! In a couple of weeks time it will be Logan's 7th birthday - who planned it that way lol????

Anyway, thanks for visiting and remember to pop over to Pollycraft to spend some pennies!

Kite Flying

Good evening - it's certainly windy enough here to fly a kite! The boys are watching football on the telly in Gaelic! It's not that they can understand what's being said but apparently it doesn't matter, as long as it's football!

Have made a little card to enter into a couple of challenges. The first is Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge where Anything Goes and a fab sketch over at Sketch Saturday:

This little fella is Jasper and he's one of the fantastic new images at the newly opened Pollycraft. Needed some bright papers for this one so have used Echo Park "A Walk in the Park" which would be a great place to fly a kite! The sentiment is Craftwork Cards and the little rainbow is all glamour dusted (it's a Quickutz diecut). Finished it off with a few buttons.

Have a Fabulous Day ......

Hurrah it's Saturday! It was nice not to get up at the crack of dawn for work today. The boys event managed a bit of lie in (until 7.30 ha ha).

Have found a few challenges that I haven't played in before. The first is the Alphabet Challenge Blog's "G for Glitter and Gems" and Jellypark Challenges which has a theme of "It's a Girly Challenge". Lastly One Stop Craft Challenge is asking you to Add some Glitter. Now in my mind you can't have a girly card without glitter and gems so here is my card:

The little cutie all dressed up is "Fairy Princess" from the newly relaunched Pollycraft store. Paula's got fab new digi stamps on there at a bargain £1.49 - there is even 30% off your first order! What are you waiting for??!! Oh and Paula also has a DT call on for her new store - check out the details here.

The pink papers are from a Grace Taylor pad "Flower Patch" which I think I picked up in the sale at Hobbycraft. The fairy's wings have been glamour dusted and the flowers are have stickled! The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the ribbon, gems and flowers were in my stash.

18 Again (I wish!)

I vaguely remember what it was like to be 18 - I mean 41's not old, right?? I remember when I turned 18 I was given "the key to the house" which is a very old fashioned tradition - not even sure it's something people do these days. I still have my gifts which involved toys with large plastic keys attached lol! It was this thought that inspired today's card:

This cutie patootie is one of the new digi's from the uber-talented Paula over at Pollycraft and is "Scooter's Key". Have teamed him up with DCWV "All About Boys" stack (love the colours in this stack) and some washi tape. The numbers are thickers and I have glossy accented the key. A little card candi finishes it off.

I would like to enter this card into 2 great challenges this week - Cupcake Craft Challenge has a great sketch and combining it with Cards for Men theme of "Animals".

To a Very Special Friend

You know the kind, always up for mischief and a laugh but can be serious and supportive when needed! I am lucky to have a few friends like that - where no topic of conversation is off limits.

So this little card could be sent to such a friend. Have used this week's Sunday Sketch & Stamp sketch:

The papers are MME Stella and Rose "Mabel" which had a cheery range of oranges to work with. The sentiment is Craftwork Cards and the flowers, gems and twine were lurking on my desk. This is another of Pollycraft's new digi stamps - Scooter's Puddles and he is such a cutie - he even has a little froggie friend!

Remember to pop over to the new Pollycraft Store and Blog.

New Home

Sometimes I do wish I had a lovely new home .... then I think of everything I would have to pack up (there are a few cupboards in our house that are no longer opened in case something jumps out!) and I realise I am happy where I am!

The week there is a fab sketch over at Sketch Saturday so I made this little New Home card:

This was a quick card to put together and for once I didn't even use my promarkers, just coloured pencils for a softer, scribbly look! The papers are Crate Paper's "Neighbourhood" and the charm was in my collection. The lovely little image is a new Pollycraft image "Houses All in a Row" a snip at £1.49.

Sending Heaps of Love

Happy Bank Holiday Monday! Don't really know what we are getting up to today but sometimes it's just nice to mooch about the house.

Another little Pollycraft make from me today, this time using the cute Sending Heaps of Love with sentiment available for just £1.49.

The papers are from Crate Paper "Neighbourhood Collection" and once again played with washi tape and staples! Although you can't see it in the picture, all the shells have been given the glossy accent treatment!

Just for You

Good afternoon! Hope you've been enjoying your weekend so far. An uneventful day in the White house - shopping completed, the boys went to the family day at the Falkirk Football Stadium and had a nice afternoon. I caught up with some programs I had recorded and of course got a little crafting done!

This card I am entering into this week's Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge:

Now this little guy is Scooter and he is one of the fab new images over at the newly re-opened Pollycraft. This digi is "Scooter's Birdie Buddies" and is a total bargain at £1.49! Paula is currently offer 30% of your first order so it's definitely worth checking it out. The paper is MME "Nostalgia" and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards. The little banner was die cut.

Thanks for visiting!

Huge Thanks

I love Sundays when they have a holiday Monday attached to them - once I get the weekly shop out of the way the day is my own.

As promised another Pollycraft make this time using an adorable elephant - and for £1.49  you get the elephant and the sentiment - what a bargain!

The bright coloured paper is from Echo Park's "A Walk in the Park" and I have used washi tape for the first time. There are also a few gems on there as well.

Remember to check out the Pollycraft store and blog.

Smile it's your Birthday!

Hello! Welcome to the holiday weekend (here in the UK). Just read on MSN that Monday is meant to be warmer than Menorca but we shall see, ha ha.

As promised another card using one of the fab new Pollycraft images. This one introduces The Party Monster, a total steal at £1.49!

I love the fact that with monsters you can get away with colouring them in colours you wouldn't normally put together. Took my colours from the background papers - Sassafras "Monstrosity" and teamed it up with some ribbon, a thickers number and a Craftwork Card sentiment. It is for a little boy's whose birthday is next week.

Remember to check out Paula's blog for more makes and of course there is a special offer on at the Store at the moment - you really have no excuses not to fill your basket now!!!!!

Woohoo Pollycraft is back!!!!

Isn't it fab news???!!!!

I was sooo excited when Paula announced Pollycraft was coming back - I was privileged to be on the old DT and always loved playing with the fantastic images. Paula is one talented lady and so glad she's back with the most gorgeous new images. The shop has been spruced up and on sale are the gorgeous new images (but not any of the old images).

So without much ado I will be sharing some of the cards I made with the new images over the next few days. This is a fab image for those boy cards - Little Hero - a total bargain at £1.49!

The papers are from Crate Paper "Restoration" which I haven't played with for ages. The sentiment is computer generated and there are a few card candis to finish it off.

Please do pop over the Pollycraft and check out (and hopefully buy!) those gorgeous new images! Paula will also be showing off some makes from her old DT over the next few days so do check out her blog

L'il Robot

Good afternoon. Sunday again. Why????? Hubby was away over the weekend with "the lads" and came back earlier. Up to the point he arrived the boys and I had got on well, no major arguments - dad was home 2 minutes and there was an argument! Men, why do we bother eh?!

Anyway onto this little card - entering this into the Seize the Birthday sketch which is for a male this time.

This little fella with the birthday cake is a Pollycraft image as is the sentiment. The papers are MME's "L'il Robot" and worked really well for this sketch. The cogs are also from MME and have been topped off with some card candi.

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

I like being all snuggled up I have to admit - but this little bear looks super snug! Entering this new baby card into  the Sunday Sketch and Stamp challenge. Ended up with a darker pink than I had planned but I think it worked out in the end!

The paper is from the Fairy Belle Prima pad and of course an adorable LOTV bear coloured with promarkers. There is a panel of print (have to admit this was smaller than I had intended) and I used flowers from the Hobby House - I love the colours of them! Used seam binding and some pearls to finish it off.

Well off to make the last packed lunches for the week.

Is it Ice Cream weather??

Probably not is the answer! When is the nice weather going to appear? Why do I also talk about the weather? It really is a British obsession I think!

Anyway, this card is for this week's great sketch over at Sketch Saturday which I haven't entered for a while.

This is Tilda's Big ice cream and it looks delicious doesn't it? The papers are Grace Taylor's "Bubblegum Girl" which if full of zingy, girly colours. The buttons and gems were lurking in the stash as always.

He shoots, he scores!

Football is a passion in this house - although not by me! If they aren't watching football their out playing football so this card was quite apt! Entering this card into 2 challenges this week - The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge and Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge whose theme this week is "One for the Boys".

Used the lovely Soccer Edwin and teamed him up with Echo Park's "A Boy's Life" paper. The football pitch background was bought from a little craft shop in Scarborough when I was on holiday there last summer and the sentiment is from, yes you've guessed it, Craftwork Cards.

Birthday Posie

Good evening - why is the weekend soooo quick??? It's been a mixture of sun and showers here today so there have been brief bursts of peace and quiet when the boys have gone out the play!

I followed this week's fab sketch over at Seize the Birthday which was looking for a feminine card - I hope this fits the bill!

The image is a pre-coloured square from LOTV which was cut into an oval with a spellbinder. The papers are from the Prima pad "Meadow Lark" which go with the coloured image well. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards (when isn't it???) and the flowers, butterfly, pins and gems are from my stash. A nice quick card to put together.

Clowning Around!

Another card today from me using another one of the Magnolia new releases - this one is Tilda Clown. Loved using this stamp as it lends itself to colour combos you wouldn't normally put together. Entering this card into a couple of challenges - over at Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge Anything Goes and I've used Carrie's sketch over at Sketch Saturday. Here's the result:

The patterned paper is from a DCWV pad "Grade School" that I acquired ages ago but hadn't used. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and everything else was lurking in my stash. The shapes are cut using spellbinder circle dies.

Orange and Green

Good morning. Bit duller here today but still dry so that's not bad for Scotland! Finally managed to get a bit of crafting done (before I go on another little road trip with the boys for a few days) and have gone with Ooh-La-La-Creations theme of Orange and Green - have to admit not normally a set of colours I would use but they do go well together:

I have treated myself (as if I need an excuse) to some of the new Magnolia releases and this is Sitting Tilda with Butterfly. The papers are from First Edition's "New Leaf" and had nice shades of greens and oranges. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the stickles, charm, twine and gems were in my stash. The border was created using a Martha Stewart border punch.

Enjoying the Holidays

One of the great things about being a teacher is that I can share most of the holidays with the boys (occasionally they don't match like in October but usually they do). So the first week of the Easter Hols we were in the Lake District - a little place called Flookburgh near Grange-over-Sands to be exact. The skies remained blue although it was still pretty cold most days! The boys enjoyed the 24 hour company of their parents (not!) as we enjoyed theirs!!

So it's back to normal, one more week of holidays to keep them entertained. Oh dear! Hopefully I will get some crafting in as well!

Sunday 17 March 2013

At my age .....

...  I can wear whatever I want! Or indeed what I can get to fit me lol! This week seems to have flown by and there has been no craftiness done until now. Only 2 more weeks of school until the Easter holidays and they can't arrive quickly enough!

Over at Seize the Birthday this week the sketch is taking a masculine spin and over at Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge they are having a laugh. So it could only mean one thing for my card - bringing out Bugaboo's Gus! Let's face it every family has a Gus!

I had to go with bright papers for this one and chose WRMK "72 & Sunny" and some twine - simples! The tag sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and Gus's bucket, glasses and beach ball have had the glossy accents treatment.

One more candle .....

Good evening! Mid week post from me - how unusual! My Monday did not turn out quite as I planned - ended up in A&E for 3 hours with oldest as his school thought he had fractured his cheekbone in a playground accident. Thankfully it was just rather bruised but my gosh that was 3 hours I won't get back again! It was also really busy for a weekday afternoon - I was really surprised.

This little card is for a colleague at work who is 60 tomorrow but doesn't want the world to know so it's a low key creation with no mention of "60"! I used this weeks great sketch over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp Challenge:

The irate looking lady is of course Bugaboo's Stella - don't think I'd cross her! The papers are Prima "Doodle Deux" and the sentiment from Craftwork Cards. Everything else was lurking in my stash.

Off to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Friday night at the Edinburgh Playhouse and staying over so very looking forward to being boy free for a wee while!

Airships

Another wee card made although this one definitely did not turn out how I'd planned it! This one follows this week's sketch from The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge.

I had not meant to go a bit steampunk with it as I started out with stamping black and white butterflies but I could just not get them to work with the paper so I had a rummage through my stamps and still went with something that flies - an airship!

The papers are the lovely Prima "Printery" and the stamp is one of a set of 3 from the Hero Arts "Flying Airships" set. There is a Papermania Chronology gear to which I have added a flower and brad. Gave TH On the Edge Steampunk an airing and added some gems. So not what I started with but I do quite like it (I think!)

Thanks for visiting, Sheena xx

Mr Fix It

Sunday again - its been a whole week since I made anything crafty! Life just seems to get in the way lol.

Peaceful here at the mo - hubby's watching football and the boys are out playing. Playing along with a couple of challenges with this card - Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge have a theme of St David's Day and want to see Dragons and/or daffodils. Have combined it with this week's masculine card sketch over at Seize the Birthday. So this is what I have come up with (although not sure about it - it looked better in my head ha ha):

This not so very scary dragon is Mr Fix It by Dustin Pike. The papers are Prima's Craftsman which had their first outing and the sentiment is Craftwork Cards. The frame is one of my new Spellbinders "Labels Thirty" and I just put some faux stitching on the edges.

Well off to do more crafting while no one needs my attention!

Big Birthday Wishes!

Good afternoon - why does the weekend seem to go by really quickly?? Can't believe it's Sunday again so soon. Did some retail therapy in Glasgow yesterday while my dad took the boys to a football match.

This little card is for this week's Seize the Birthday sketch for a female birthday and managed to combine it with Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge which is looking for the use of punches and dies:

The little fairy (with glittery wings) is from Sugar Nellie although I have lost the packaging and can't think what she's called. The papers are MME Miss Caroline "Dolled" up and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards. The fabulous die cut background is from the new Stephanie Wightman range of dies - it wasn't particularly cheap but I thought it could be used for both male and female cards.

Off the mum and dad's for tea shortly - hooray no cooking to do!

For some birdie special ......

Evening all! The boys are out playing and I've got 5 minutes before dinner needs sorting so I thought I'd pop on here!

Got another little card to show off today (I do apologise for the angle - I didn't think it was that bad!!) using the sketch from The Sweet Stop with a spin of birds and/or bees:

The bird family is an old image from Tinker & Co coloured with promarkers. The papers are once again Bazzill Basics, this time "Ambrosia" and due to my duff photography skills you can't see that the charm is a little birdhouse!

Right, the cauliflower cheese has to go in the oven .........................

HBTU!

Do you know what that stands for?? Happy Birthday To You a la text speak! Despite teaching teenagers I had to look this one up for my card lol.

Sunday Sketch & Stamp as always have a fab little sketch to work with and here is my take on it:

This young lady is from The Paper Shelter and is having a "Coffee Break" - used the text abbreviation to make it a really teenage girl card. The paper is Prima's "Miss Caroline" which I don't use enough and the envelope and icon background was made using TPC Studio's "Text Tales" stamps - I knew they would come in handy!

Think that's it - off the get dinner organised (or we wouldn't eat around here otherwise!!).

You make me smile ....

...all over my face! I do love that quote which I've used on my card - it makes you smile! Have some crafty time this afternoon as everyone is visiting in-laws so it's pretty peaceful. Did all my school marking, bought the Create and Craft Spellbinder Blockbuster (all £330 worth gulp!) and made me a card.

For this one I have combined 2 challenges - I have used the Sketch Saturday sketch with the Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge Bingo board (after much deliberation I decided on going diagonally - lace, dies and kraft).Crafty Catz are also having a DT call.  Here is the result:

The paper is the rather delicious "Doodle Deux" from Prima which has such vivid colours, the cutie patootie is from The Paper Shelter which has a brilliant collection of digi stamps - this one's called "Learning is Fun". The sentiment is from a collection of kid quotes from Inkadinkado. The lace and gems were hiding in my stash (and I do mean hiding - I swear the pile of stuff grows all on its own lol). The little flowers were made from my spellbinder bitty blossoms dies and were a bit of fiddle to make but am quite pleased with the effect! The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

Phew, enough of my rambling - got to go, got the next card to make!!

Birthday Boy

I know, I don't post for ages then manage 2 in one go lol! I really am loving the Seize the Birthday challenge and it's such a great way to build up your birthday card collection (which is handy for emergency I forgot someone's birthday moments). This week they are looking for a masculine card based on the sketch so here is my take:

Have used the ever gorgeous Maurice digi from Pollycraft and combined him with Bazzill Basics Paper "Lucy's Crab Shack" and some gems - jobs a good 'un!

Imagination

Good morning - it is a bit early isn't it??! We are on our half term here but still get up about the same time out of habit, boo!

Using a fab sketch over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp for this cute little LOTV bear using his imagination with the box - how many times have my two had great presents but loved the boxes more?!

The papers are Bazzill Basics Paper "MAC" which are fab for boys cards. For the 3 balloons I just stamped out the balloon image from the stamp and used Bakers Twine and a button to finish it off.

Well, off to see how I can keep the boys occupied today without spending a small fortune!

Cake Glorious Cake!

Hi there! Can't believe it's February already! Have had hardly any time to craft recently so this is the first challenge for a few weeks.

Have gone back to the fabulous "Seize the Birthday" blog for this one which this week is looking for a feminine card based on the sketch. This is what I came up with:

This gorgeous little girl is of course from Lili of the Valley which I totally love - it comes with the sentiment as well. She's coloured with promarkers and has some sparkle on her wings - I wish someone would bake me a cake that big!!

The papers are from MME "Nostalgia" paper pad and the delicately coloured flowers are from the Hobby House and are called "Vanilla Latte". Finished off with a little birthday sentiment and some gems.

Hopefully I can get a little crafting done this week - it's half term Thursday and Friday and if I can keep the monsters occupied for a bit I might get some peace!

Thanks for visiting!

U Rock!

Afternoon all - bit of a cold one in the UK isn't it? We don't have any snow here but the boys are doing a snow dance and keeping their fingers crossed for a whiteout tomorrow (and subsequent school closure of course!!)

There was high drama in the White house on Friday lunchtime - got  a phone call from school to say Hamish had had an accident - he had been headbutted(!!) in the playground - not only did he have a shiner but he feel backward and smacked his head hard on the ground and was feeling dizzy. So grandpa was duly despatched to collect him and take him to the doctors. He's fine now! And if that wasn't enough drama, last night I broke my Grand Calibur sob sob. Have ordered a new one from Create and Craft though!

Anyway I'm always on the lookout for a new challenge blog and came across this fantastic sketch blog themed towards birthdays - perfect! Seize the Birthday has 2 sketches a month but is a weekly challenge - one week you use the sketch for a female card then the following week use the same sketch for a masculine card.

Hubby's birthday is at the end of the month and he is of an age where he remembers (as do I!!) albums and tapes - did you ever try to tape the Top 40 Charts off the radio every Sunday (or even making mixed tapes, ha)??? The papers are Bazzill Basics Paper "MAC" and the image is WRMK "You Rock" clear stamp. Paired it up with some twine, a charm, gems and a sentiment. A nice quick card to make!

Fishing

Good afternoon. All is quite quiet in the White house - shopping done, homework has been completed and the boys are actually getting on with each other ....... you will notice that there is no mention of housework being done!!

Found a couple of challenge blogs that I don't think I have had a bash at. Over at Here Come the Boys there is a fab sketch to use and the Sweet Stampin' Challenge are looking for "Gingham". How could I resist a male card with gingham!

This hunk of a fisherman is Maurice from Pollycraft and he has been coloured with promarkers. His glasses have been given shine with glossy accents. The paper is from a rather old MM "Sam" paper pad but I do love the colours. The sentiment and card candi are from Craftwork Cards.

Jar of Hearts

Happy Saturday - boy am I happy to see the weekend after my first week of full-time! After an hour at work it feels that you were never on holiday! But it does keep me in crafty pennies so shan't complain!

I do love using sketches so when I came across the Addicted to Stamps Challenge I just had to join in! Used a gorgeous Tilda (coloured with promarkers of course) and some lovely papers from Fancypants - Country Boutique. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and Tilda's wings have had the Antique Linen Distress Stickles treatment. The hearts in the jar have been cut out of one of backing papers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Magnolia Love

Good afternoon! Are all your Christmas decorations down - for you superstitious types the limit is today! I had mine down before New Year's Day I have to admit.

Have managed, for the first time in totally ages, to do a card for a challenge. A lovely sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday #187 to work with and have to admit I have left it quite unfussy as I do like this Marianne frame! Tilda's wings have been stickled for a little sparkle and the little word is TH sticker thingy! The papers are from the Grace Taylor Flowers collection and I just loved how the colours came together:

I do hope you like and thanks for visiting!

Happy New Year and some News!!

Well it's finally here - 2013 - hope it's got off to a good start for you all so far! No hangovers in this house and just enjoying the last few days of the school holidays before we go back on 7 January. I also return full-time to work as well, eek, it seemed a good idea at the time!

Now it has been far too long since I posted here which I am very sorry about. Sometimes there's just not enough hours in the day! I have been crafting though - crimbo card orders and wedding stationery orders have taken up a lot of my (not so much) free time.

One thing I did do last year was enter the Papercraft Essentials craft magazine's Papercrafter of the Year 2012 competition and do you know what??? I was one of the 9 runners-up! Woohoo I was sooo stunned when I got the email. You had to enter 2 cards and a non-card papercraft item and here they are in print!

Here is a better look at me entries:

(sorry for the poor light quality on this one!)

So if I said I would be a better blogger this year would you believe me???? Thanks for popping by.
